I was young and carefree, not a sound had found my soul.
Lost in blues, jazz, and ragtime*, no sound had got to my mood.
I was searching for my melody, love blues that gets me wooed.
All alone, sad clown with his* circus closed down.
Lost on my merry-go-round came a melody in my heart so yearning -
Taught me to hear music out of love from the soul for this life we all live infinite.
With the lover and beloved as one Ellington sound of love.

If I was where I would be,
Then I’d be where I am not.
Here I am where I must be,
Where I’d be I cannot.
When I first came to town,
They brought me drinks a plenty.
Now they changed their tune and they
Grab me the bottles empty.
Through the woods I go,
Through the boggy mire.
Straight way down the road
‘Til I come to my heart’s desire.
When I first came to town,
They called me the Roving Jewel.
And now they changed their tune,
Call me Katie Cruel.

I Walk a Little Faster

Pretending that we meet
Round each and every corner,
I walk a little faster
Pretending life is sweet
‘Cause love’s around the corner,
I walk a little faster
Can’t begin to see my future shine as yet,
No sign as yet, you’re mine as yet!
Rushing toward a face I can’t define as yet
Keep bumping into walls, and taking lots of falls,
But even though I meet
at each and every corner
With nothing but disaster,
I set my chin a little higher, hope a little longer
Build a little stronger castle in the air.
And thinking you’ll be there,
I walk a little faster.

Nero's expedition up the Nile failed
Because the water hyacinths
had clogged the river,
denying Nero's vessels passage
Through the Sud of Nubia.

Take the A Train

It's Monday morning, I wake up in a flash.
I've gotta dash - it's quarter to 9!
This always happens, Dreams get the best of my
imagination, so I snooze the morning time away.
I start to make some coffee,
Pack a lunch and take a shower (maybe).
Run out the door with dripping hair and half a
Bagel, it's stale and plain.
And the train won't wait up
It'll just whizz by, at half past it'll have left me!
Seven blocks to go, I hope I make it.
I can't be late again and keep my job,
Now I'm stuck!
Construction is blocking my way. I can't seem to pass it -
Excuse me! I pass it on the left, and pick up the pace.
Four blocks to go now, at a full out sprint,
The people ‘round me cannot take a hint!
Move out of my way, it's urgent!
Two and a half, considering in-
vesting in a bicycle, but I'll never ride it.
Not in the morning, it wouldn't really help
...I've got a cramp in my side, but I'm so close
Rounding the corner with
Minutes to spare, hoping I get there!
Swipe my metrocard through the machine and book it -
Two flights of stairs, and pass a person asking for change
I throw a coin but I miss...cutting it close!
I see it! I run I squeeze into the train car
And do it all again tomorrow!
